Oh noes! I've been tagged! #2

So it happened again! I was tagged in a couple of things. The people who tagged me probably think I've forgotten about it, but nope. Here I am weeks later, finally getting this post up! Again I'm going to combine a couple of tags in one post, since I only do one miscellaneous post a week, I figured I'd make the most of it. So on with the tags!

Technically this one should have been done at the start of the year, but as much as I love the fresh start of a new year, I'm a firm believer that it's never too late to take back what's yours. Plus, I'm sure everyone got sick of new years resolution posts. Either way, better late than never! Thank you to Abbie from Another Student Blog for tagging me!

The Take Back What's Yours campaign was created by Chloe of Chloe's Concept. To be honest, I can't explain it as well as she can as it's her brainchild, so here's a link to what it's all about. Basically, the idea is to take back something that you lost for whatever reason. Whether it's your confidence, happiness or ambition. Forget the frivolous or unrealistic new years resolutions and take back what's really important. I hope that makes sense.

You're supposed to take a photo of yourself holding a piece of paper saying what you're taking back, but I'm not in a position to do that right now. So I guess I'll just have to tell you!

My Week In Words | #4 2015

"Every man gotta right to decide his own destiny."
Bob Marley

Welcome to this week's edition of My Week In Words! This post covers from Sunday 18th to Saturday 24th of January.

Arts 'n' Crafts | Paper Mache Head

"The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls."
Pablo Picasso

Howdy! Welcome to the latest in my Arts & Crafts series. This one is a little odd. My mum came to me last week and asked if I would paper mache a styrofoam head she bought to display her knitted hats and hair bands she makes. You can check out her stuff here. Anyway, I obviously jumped at a chance. I'm pretty much up for anything when there's PVA glue involved. The best crafts are the ones that involve making a mess. Another plus being I could make a blog post about it!

My Love Of Fan Videos #1

It is no secret that I love fan videos. I mean... LOVE fan videos. I can spend hours watching them and when I'm not watching them, I have them playing in the background. It's gotten to the point that certain songs just feel plain wrong without quotes from my favourite shows playing over them at certain points. I even know when the quotes are and find myself talking along with them like they're just part of the lyrics. Which is admittedly a little weird for the people who can hear me. Fan videos have introduced me to new music, new shows and new ships!

(Shipping, derived from the word relationship or friendship, is the desire for two people, often fictional, to be in a relationship, romantic or otherwise.)

They cheer me up or help me cry out the boohoos when I need it. They let me live vicariously through them when I feel lonely. They combine two of my favourite things, music and television/movies. I've even had a go at trying my own hand at it, though mine don't even come close to some of the masterpieces people have put together. It really is a skill.

Obviously I love fan videos for my favourite shows, but there are also certain songs that when I find a new show or a new ship, I check if there's a fan video with it for my favourite couple couple or character. In this blog post, I'm going to tell you five of my favourite fan video songs and an example of one of the videos it's used in! Disclaimer, videos may contain spoilers!

My Week In Words | #3 2015

"There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure."

Howdy people! Welcome to this weeks instalment of, My Week In Words. This week's post covers from Sunday 11th to Saturday 17th of January

Sunday was a bit of a rest day. I knew I'd be working hard during the week for my controlled assessment, so I figured I'd just take a day. In the morning I finished last week's MWIW post, then later my aunt Karen visited. It felt like forever since we'd seen her, so it was good to catch up. We filled her in on meeting a couple of the players the night before. I think she was a tad jealous. After she left I worked on my next Arts & Crafts post. It's a bit of a random one, but it was fun. I really needed something to distract me from the game the Giants were playing away. I follow away games on Twitter and you'd be surprised how stressful it can be. Short story, we lost. But lets not dwell on that.

Bloo's Reviews | Five Year Journal

"Putting words on paper regularly is part of the necessary discipline of writing. A journal is a great way to do that."
Pearl Cleage

I should be doing revision for an exam right now, so I'm doing this review as quickly as possible. I should have been better prepared, but we live and learn. I had planned to review some of the make up I got for Christmas, but that would have been a little more time consuming. So I thought I would review the 5 Year Journal I got for Christmas.

Inspiration Porn

"Inspiration: The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something."

Inspiration Porn
is a touchy subject for many disabled people. Most have very strong views on it and are quick to condemn anyone that may indulge in it. Whether it's a picture like the one to the left or someone on the street telling you how much of an inspiration you are for leaving the house, many disabled people and particularly those with obvious physical disabilities will have come across it at one point or another. I've had it many times. Almost every time I have a night out with my sister I get someone loitering around me or eyeing me up, and I know at one point or another they'll pluck up the courage to come over. I also know, unlike for most young women on a night out it isn't because I'm about to get hit on. I know this because a lot of the time it is older men or women. Usually they're drunk and they invade my personal space to tell me "It's so great to see you out, you're the most beautiful girl in the place." Then they'll smile like they've just done their good deed for the day and earned themselves some karma points before walking off. Usually then my sister and I will have a great laugh about the ridiculousness of people. Or the ones that come right out and say, "You're such an inspiration. I can't believe how you're so positive and happy all the time." The subtext to which could be, "Your disabled life must be so terrible, if it were me I would be depressed 24/7."

My Week In Words | Week #2 2015

"True success is overcoming the fear of being unsuccessful."
Paul Sweeney

Welcome to this weeks, My Week In Words. I've decided to change how I do this a little so I can post them earlier on Sundays. Instead of them covering from Monday to Sunday, they'll be from Sunday to Saturday. This post will cover from Monday 5th to Saturday 10th of January as I covered last Sunday in last week's.

Arts 'n' Crafts | My Wreck This Journal

"To create is to destroy."
Keri Smith

I can't really remember how I first heard about the book, Wreck This Journal. Definitely from Tumblr, but I either stumbled across it or my sister did. As soon as I knew about it, I knew I HAD to have it and bought Eva and myself one each. This was back in October 2012, but it really feels like just yesterday. It's now 2015 and I have three Wreck This Journals, plus a couple of other Keri Smith books. You may or may not recall, I even got one this Christmas. However, I'm still to complete the first one or even start the others. It's not because I lost interest or anything, because I love the book just as much as I did when I first started it. I just have a tendency to use it more when I'm in a creative rut, because it's great for getting your inspiration and creative juices flowing again. That's why I've decided to make this post now, as this year I want to get back to my arts and craft roots that I've neglected since I've started blogging. So for the first of my new arts and crafts related posts I'll be doing every other week, here's an introduction to my Wreck This Journal and some of my favourite pages I've done so far!

My Week In Words | Week #1 2014/15

"I've always put my family first and that's just the way it is."
Jamie Lee Curtis

Welcome to the first instalment of my new weekly round up series, My Week In Words. As I mentioned in my resolutions post, it will be posted every Sunday. This post will document from Saturday 27th Dec to Sunday 4th Jan, as my sister came home at the weekend and I wanted to write about her stay, which ran into this week. Most weeks however, My Week In Words will be about Mondays to Sundays. I hope that all makes sense. Now on with the show! ...I mean post.

New Year, New Resolutions
