New Year, New Resolutions

"Dates that come around every year help us measure progress in our lives. One annual event, New Year's Day, is a time of reflection and resolution."
Joseph B. Wirthlin

2014 Resolutions

1) Do more stuff.
It sounds like a very general resolution, and I guess it was. I just wanted to do everything more. So I'd have something to say when asked what I'd been up to. The last few years I was very complacent. If it seems like I don't do much now, you have no idea. There was a time when I felt like leaving the house more than once a week was pushing it. I wanted last year to be different, to push myself to do more and enjoy life more, and that's what I did. I spent more, got out of the house more, read more this year than I have every other year put together, drank more coffee, made an effort to talk to more people and work on my anxiety and shyness that usually hold me back. My blog was part of it too. I started it in March after realising I'd like to be able to look back on the things I'm doing. I also figured having somewhere to write and an audience might help motivate me and it has. I plan on the most part to continue the same this year. If you missed my last post, you can check out my highlights of 2014 here.

2) Fall in love.
The short story here is, I didn't. By fall in love, I didn't mean find a dude and get married, or even a boyfriend. I just wanted to open myself up to love. I feel like the last couple of years I've been single, I've closed myself off to it. I'm happy single, comfortable. It's safe. I can't hurt anyone, or be hurt. But being afraid of something isn't any reason to close yourself off to it. I didn't even mind if it wasn't reciprocated. I just wanted to see someone (a non-famous/mildly attainable person) and feel those butterflies again. It didn't happen really. Oh well, maybe it'll happen this year.

2015 Resolutions

1) Better money management.
This one flies in the face of last year's resolution, but last year I hadn't even realised there was a possibility I might move out any time soon. Now we've started the process and I'm waiting for a house, I can't really afford to spend like there's no tomorrow. So this year I plan to manage my money a little better.

2) Be more healthy.
Basically I'm going to try and eat more as my appetite has sucked lately, eat healthier and drink more water. This is something I really struggle with. It's hard to get variety in your diet when you can't cook for yourself. Still, this year I'm going to do the best I can. Hopefully I'll feel less sluggish.

3) Better blog management.
I plan to be more organised with my blog. At the moment I write and post whenever I feel like it about whatever I feel like. I started a review series and had hoped to do it once a week, but struggled to find things to review that often. There are also things I want to incorporate into my blog and other hobbies I want to get back to doing as well, but bad time and blog management has meant they've fallen by the wayside. So here is what I plan to change about my blog.

- I plan to post on Sunday's, Tuesday's and Thursday's

- My weekly round up posts will be a series posted on Sundays called This Week In Words.

- The Tuesday post will be miscellaneous posts about whatever I feel like. Current events, opinions, feelings etc. Like if there's something that's happened during the week I want to expand on more than I feel I could in This Week In Words.

 - Thursday's posts (starting next week since it's Thursday today) will alternate weekly between two series, Bloo's Reviews and a new series that''ll incorporate my arts and crafts hobbies into my blog. I'm not sure what I'll call it yet.

I'm going to manage my time better and work on how much I procrastinate. I can schedule Thursday and sometimes Tuesday posts, which should help. And I'll work on Sunday posts throughout the week. I even bought a Filofax to keep ideas and write what I'm posting when. I always feel like if I have the right organiser, I'll be more organised. I guess we'll see.

So yeah, those are my resolutions for this year. I know not everyone believes in resolutions and there's the quote 'don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today' or something, but personally I just like the feeling of turning over a new leaf at the beginning of the year. I guess there's a novelty to it.

Happy New Year everyone!
What are your resolutions?

  1. Sounds like a sweet plan! I'm loving everyone's motivation right now. I used to struggle drinking more water too but now it's all I drink - sounds obvious but just don't buy any pop, if it's not in the house, you can't have it! It helped me loads cos I used to buy it and think "oh I'll just have a bit" I think it's pointless calories! :)

    1. Thank you! I hope I can stick to it. Feels like a fresh start. My problem isn't drinking fizzy drinks etc, I basically only drink tea. It's not as bad as it used to be as I now drink decaf, but I still want to drink more water. Hopefully I can do it.

Loved your resolutions. Made me think of some I wish I'd added to mine! Aha. :)

    1. Admittedly the first two are pretty standard, but probably the two I'll struggle most with. I'm really looking forward to it myself, I just hope I can keep up with it. I'm determined though! And thank you! Me too. And I promise to keep better up to date with yours this year! I'm the worst blog reader. D:

      Love ya too! xo

  3. I really need to start eating healthier as well - my problem is I am way to lazy to cook anything that involves too much effort! One thing I am good as though is drinking lots of water. Good luck with your resolutions!

    1. Ah yeah. I wish I could cook, I think it would help. Though I'd probably be too lazy too. Plus there's the fact I live with my parents and there's not much space to keep my own food. I think it'll be easier once I move out. Thank you! :) xo

    1. Thank you! I'm hoping I can stick to it. So far so good and I have ideas for a few weeks. Hopefully I won't run out. This Week In Words will be the easiest since it's already something I've been doing, just with a little more structure. Thanks again, and I hope 2015 is good to you too! xo
