My Week In Words | #5 2015

"Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired."
Jules Renard

Welcome to this week's My Week In Words! This week's instalment documents from Sunday 25th to Saturday 31st of January. I cannot believe the first month of 2015 has been and gone. I wonder will all months fly in like this one has.

On Sunday morning and early afternoon I worked on last week's My Week In Words. Which can be found here. Later in the afternoon my aunt Karen visited. I filled her in on how the Giants' games went last week and we had a catch up. She just bought a second house so she was filling us in with what's happening with that. When I say she bought it, she, my dad, my uncle and my granda also put towards it but it will be my aunt splitting her time between it and her other house. By the time she left it was almost time for the Giants' third game of the weekend and their second against the Flyers. Since they were playing away I decided to pay to watch the webcast. At £8 it was only £3 cheaper than a ticket to see them live so I always feel a bit ripped off. I was right to this time as it was shockingly bad. It did get better but it still wasn't great. Especially when you're used to watching the flawless NHL streams. The commentators also didn't help. As someone else said, they were like the old men from the muppets.
One of the webcast's clearer moments

It went right down to the wire and we went on to lose 5 - 4 after a shoot out, which was a complete bummer. Though I guess taking one point is better than taking no points in a game.

Monday was pretty uneventful. I got an appointment with a GP for the 2nd of Feb about my anxiety. I wanted one asap because I'm tired of constantly managing it and living on the edge. The only down side is it's a locum doctor and not someone I know. I don't feel particularly close to any of the doctors at our surgery so I'm hoping it won't be too much of an issue. I also purchased a new netbook for class from Amazon. They could have probably lent me a laptop, but I wanted something I could become familiar with. Plus theirs tend to be dinosaurs. It only came to £55 so it didn't put too much of a dent in my bank account.

On Tuesday I posted my Miscellaneous Tuesday post which again was some things I'd been tagged to do. You can find that here. A lot of the day was spent watching The Vampire Diaries with Eva. It's been a lot of fun watching it with her. It really is just as good watching it the second time around. Tuesday was also Holocaust Memorial Day which marked 70 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. I read some very moving articles such as Auschwitz 70th anniversary: Survivors warn of new crimes and The Holocaust's Forgotten Victims: The 5 Million Non-Jewish People Killed By The Nazis. Dee also wrote a great post about her visit to the The Holocaust Centre which can be found here. It's hard to believe my grandparents are the same generation as many of those that lived through the atrocity. That it really wasn't that long ago. A mere 15 years before my parents were born. It's also sad to think their generation won't be around much longer and it won't be long until we won't hear these stories from those that actually lived it.

Wednesday was spent doing not very much at all. I worked on a practice essay for class to give my tutor an idea of what standard I'm at. The prompt was 'Social media is destroying society'. I think it was okay. I emailed it to her since I decided to take class off this week because I was feeling really worn out. I also tried a sesame oil hair and scalp treatment. I wouldn't recommend it. My head smelled like a toasted sesame bagel but not in a good way. Since the end of October I've been having problems with dry skin and tried a couple of prescription things that haven't worked. The chemist basically said I'd tried everything available so I figured I'd give something more natural a go. Sesame is all we had in the house. If the smell of it wasn't bad enough I didn't wash it out properly. It was just awful.

I posted a review for the film Do Come├žo ao Fim (From Beginning To End) on Thursday. It's a slightly different movie that features very taboo subject matter, but the response to my review and the movie was very positive. You can find that review here. As I said, I'd decided to take class off this Thursday as I was feeling shattered. The rest of the day was spent relaxing. I caught up on the A View From The Bridge podcast and I tried a coconut oil hair treatment. It was far better than the sesame oil. My hair felt so lovely after. I also used baby shampoo instead of my usual shampoo as I thought it would be gentler on my scalp. That coupled with using my prescription double base on the worse affected parts seems to be helping. My new netbook also arrived on Thursday! It's so tiny. Smaller than I imagined. I wish I had taken a photo with something for size reference. It's pink, which wouldn't be my first choice but oh well. It's also Android, which I didn't realise. So that will take a little bit of getting used to. I'm sure it'll be fine though.

On Friday I worked on the next Miscellaneous Tuesday post and Eva and I watched some more of The Vampire Diaries. I also worked on an entry for Underland To Wonderland's giveaway! Which I'm going to feature this coming Thursday in the next instalment of my Arts 'n' Crafts series. I also rewormed Edwin! We wormed the animals the day before and Edwin and Berty are great. They eat the Milbemax tablets like treats. However, for some reason Edwin's didn't agree with him and the poor little man threw it up thirty minutes later. Thankfully when he ate it on Friday he was fine. He's particularly important to worm because he gets his mouth on everything!

Edwin in his favourite spot. Baby's back.

I'm going to be honest, I can't really remember what I did yesterday. Saturday was a blur, which means I guess nothing important happened. I didn't go to my granny's as my dad and my aunt etc were working on her new house. I don't like staying with my grandparents by myself now as my granny's Alzheimer's makes her quite unpredictable now. I feel bad that I get nervous when I'm by myself, but I guess you can't help how you feel. Other than that I worked on this post a little and followed the Giants game on Twitter. Eh, lets not dwell on that though. We lost 4 - 3 to the Panther's after a shoot out. Again, I guess one point is better than no points. Hopefully we redeem ourselves tonight!

How was your week?

    1. I've only tried it once or twice, so I can't fully say how well it's working. But my hair did feel super lovely after I used it. I didn't even keep it on for the recommended amount of time (over night). Let me know what you think if you try it! :) And thanks, enjoy your weekend too! xo
