My Week In Words | #8 2015

"There are good and bad times, but our mood changes more often than our fortune."
Thomas Carlyle

Welcome to My Week In Words! I had a great week this week, full of shopping, sister time and ice hockey. This post covers from Sunday 15th to Saturday 21st of February

As usual I worked on last weeks My Week In Words on Sunday. You can see what I got up to last week here.  My aunt Karen didn't visit as usual on a Sunday as my granny wasn't well and ended up being taken to hospital in an ambulance with chest pains. Luckily after a bunch of tests it turned out to be a bad Angina attack and not a heart attack. Still, my aunt Karen and granda ended up staying with her in hospital until about 6 or 7am the next morning. It was a very difficult time for my aunt, granda and my granny as my granny was very upset and confused and just a scary time in general for us all. With all that going on, the highlight of Sunday was finishing season 6 of RuPaul's Drag Race and seeing this queen crowned! Such a deserved winner.

I woke up on Monday to find this package of goodies had arrived for me from the lovely Danielle of Underland To Wonderland.

My prizes from the Hidden Mickey Giveaway!  It's needless to day I was a very happy girly and I can't thank Danielle enough. After opening all the goodies I set about taking photos and writing a blog post about the experience. Typical blogger, eh? Anyway, you can read all about it and what I won here. The rest of the evening was just spent watching Youtube. I didn't feel too well and planned to go to bed at 9pm but my parents decided to go shopping then instead. I was not in a good mood because I was shattered and had a migraine. Wasn't a great end to an otherwise awesome day.

On Tuesday we had planned a trip to IKEA with my aunt to buy stuff for her new house and Eva wanted to get a desk for her room so she could have a more organised space to do her blogging. You can read about our last trip to IKEA here. We got up early and got ready. I tried my hand at using my new liquid eye liner pen and wore lip liner with my matte lip colour. I guess you could say I was really feeling my oats, so naturally I took another super posey photo!

I was also triple necklacing it and rocked my Deathly Hallows necklace, I got in the giveaway, for the first time. I love it.

Our IKEA trip didn't get off to the best start as when we were looking for a parking space my aunt reversed my van into an R driver. Luckily there was no damage to either car and he was very nice about it. I was dreading my dad finding out as he hates my car enough as it is. We decided to start off with food. The obligatory Swedish meatballs and mash.

After missing aunt Karen on Sunday we had a good catch up session as we ate. As I told her where I was at with my anxiety I could feel it bubbling up. I'm finding at the moment I can't even think about tech or else I get really anxious for no logical reason. So I guess the antidepressants aren't working yet. Luckily making our way around the store took my mind off it again and it was a fun time. Eva and I were being totally obnoxious and constantly quoting things from RuPaul's Drag Race. My aunt Karen was so caught up in looking for stuff for her new house she didn't seem to notice. We found this mini catwalk in one of the mock rooms and Eva couldn't resist doing a lil bit of sissy that walk down it. I wish I could have gotten it for my room!

We had finally made our whole way round the store in a couple of hours and even managed to pick up Eva's furniture. As always we finished the trip how we began it, with food. How they can do tea and two doughnuts for £1 is beyond me but they were hella good.

Now on to the important part! What I bought during our shopping trip. I had said I wasn't going to buy anything because I didn't need anything... but well, that was just never going to happen. So here is what I bought!

The obligatory cheap ass IKEA cup and a set of four trays.

A pretty yellow tea light candle lantern.

A doggy butt wall hook.

A big cactus and a little cactus.
I named them Winnifred and Dolores.

I got Dolores a green pot that ended up being much too big or her. Apparently I see things quite a bit bigger than they are. Wink wink. Anyway, I'm going to get her a plastic pot that fits it and re-pot her asap.

Lastly, I got this soft toy for Edwin. He LOVES teddies and this one proved to be a hit!

So yeah, that's all the stuff I got from IKEA aside from suit bags I forgot to photograph. I don't think I went too crazy. My favourite things are definitely Dolores and Winnifred. As soon as I got home I Googled how to look after cacti, like how much water they should have etc. It felt like getting a new pet! Other than all that, another highlight of Tuesday was another parcel arrived! I didn't have time to open it, so more on that later in the week.

Eva and I started off Wednesday by watching the first episode of season 4 of RuPaul's Drag Race. We decided to keep going backwards since we watched season 5 and 6 first. After that Eva decided to build her desk from IKEA and I tidied my room and rearranged my own desk, complete with my new purchases from IKEA. I also had an idea for Thursday's Arts 'n' Crafts post while setting up my desk as I didn't feel the paper craft hedgehog my mum made me fit well. So I made a new one.

I felt like it went a whole lot better with the general aesthetic for my desk and room in general. I decided to use the trays I got from IKEA to make my desk more accessible. I have trouble reaching things but with the trays I can grip the edge and pull everything closer. I was proud of that idea. All in all I feel like my little desk nook is really coming together. I love it. It feels like a real blogger space. Full of things that inspire and represent me and things I love.

I spent the evening putting together Thursday's post while being distracted by the Comic Relief Great British Bake Off. It was a fun watch.

On Thursday I posted the latest edition of my Arts 'n' Crafts series. You can read how to make the paper craft hedgehogs above, here. I watched an episode of RuPaul's Drag Race with Eva before she and my mum went off to work and left me by myself. I enjoyed having time to myself more than I have in a while. I even made myself lunch.

While I ate I watched Vampire Academy and then Silver Linings Playbook. I enjoyed both movies and the latter more than I thought I would. In the evening I chilled and even watched a bit of Eastenders with dad. He HATES Eastenders and I haven't watched it in forever but I guess the fact it was live and this whole Lucy thing sucked me in. Eventually I showered and went to bed.

I had somewhat of an early start on Friday as I had a dentist appointment. Eva was taking me as I thought my mum was working. Turned out she wasn't but she was busy getting stuff ready for her school reunion that night. The dentist went well. Nothing to report. Oh, she did give me a free kiddies toothbrush and toothpaste samples! Apparently I need a toothbrush with a smaller head. After the dentist Eva and I headed to a little cafe called Curious Cat to pick up a couple of sandwiches to take home. I said I'd treat Eva for taking me to the dentist on her day off.

I forgot to take a photo of my sandwich, but it was hella good. After that I finally opened the parcel I got on Tuesday but I'm saving the story behind that parcel for next Tuesday's post! Eva and I then decided to cuddle up in bed with our chihuahua boys and watch some RuPaul's Drag Race. We got up to have Burger King my dad brought us in after work and I then spent the rest of the night working on this post. It was a pretty good day.

Saturday was the first Belfast Giants game day I've had in what felt like FOREVER. Needless to say by the time it rolled around I was having major withdrawals. Eva got out of work early so she could take me, so I was really looking forward to it. As usual I didn't do much on game day until I had to get ready.  It's hard to tell from the photo but I tried something a little different with my eye make up and the liquid eye liner I bought recently. I think I might actually be mastering it. Anyway, we went up to the O on the train and it was freezing. I also had a migraine that only got worse throughout the game. I can't be completely sure whether that had anything to do with the fact we lost 4 - 6 to the Edinburgh Capitals. It was painful. Eva and I also almost missed the whole second period as we were stuck in the food queue. Though the burger I got may actually have been the highlight of the night.

We were going to stay for a bit in McCool's after the game but after such a loss and my headache, I just couldn't stomach it. Nor could we stomach going to get the train in the freezing cold. We bumped into Hannah, our friend, and her boyfriend. It was her first game and despite the loss she really enjoyed it. I'm glad she wasn't put off. My dad picked Eva and I up. My headache eased a bit when I got home, enough for me to work on this post a little bit and buy two season tickets for next year. I really hope I don't live to regret it and the Giants have a better season next year!

And that was my week. It ended on a little bit of a sour note with the ice hockey loss but in general it was an awesome week. I got so many goodies, both from others and from myself. My anxiety was pretty consistent throughout the week but I can't dwell on that. Focusing on the positives is the ONLY way forward.
