My Week In Words | #18 2015

"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."
Mahatma Gandhi

Howdy and welcome to this week's instalment of My Week In Words! This week we said goodbye to April and hello to May. I can't be the only one thinking these months seem to be going by faster and faster. I had another good week, even if I spent a little more money than I should have. I hope May will be the month I start looking after my bank account a little more. But then I say that every month! Anyway, this week's post covers from the Sunday 26th of April to Saturday 2nd of May. Enjoy!

Sunday was a pretty chill day. Eva was watching Louis Theroux documentaries in the living room and I decided to join her. I have to say I'm glad I gave up my Xbox and Eva had the idea to set it up in the living room so we could use Netflix in there. Rather than sitting in my wheelchair, Eva had the idea to set up the sofa so I could sit on it beside her. I don't know why I never tried it before. She got my duvet and some pillows to put behind me, to pad the sofa out a bit. She even set up my laptop on a table in front of me as she had hers too. I really enjoyed it. Especially having Edwin curled up beside me, watching television.

We watched a couple of episodes before my aunt visited. She was surprised to find me on the sofa. We had our usual catch up. When she left I decided to get back into my wheelchair as the sun had moved around and was shining in my eyes. I was also finding it hard to concentrate on My Week In Words which I was behind on again! After dinner I got down to writing it again and eventually got it posted up in the evening. You can read it here if you missed it. Another highlight of Sunday was getting this little cutie!

I'm sure you're sick of seeing these guys now! Sadly I am not. I am still highly obsessed. I've cut back a little on getting the lils though, purely because I'm scared of getting too many doubles. Anyway, that was pretty much my Sunday.

I didn't do very much on Monday at all. I was plagued with a headache most of the day, which steadily got worse. I sat on the sofa again with Eva and watched some more Louis Theroux. Later I worked on Tuesday's post a little before I had an early night. The headache was just too much.

Tuesday was a tad more productive. I started of the day watching the latest episode of RuPaul's Drag Race. Although I didn't think Miss Fame was winning material, I was sad to see her go. She was a bit of a hoot. After that I finished and posted Tuesday's post, My Bae Requirements. I really enjoyed writing it. You can read it here if you missed it. Once I'd finished that up I moved on to my practice essay for class. It was about whether or not tattoos should be banned from sight in the work place. Once I'd finished it I sent it off to my tutor and spent the rest of the evening having Rue time and relaxing before bed.

Again, I was pretty productive on Wednesday. I finally did the mock exam I had missed on the Thursday before. It had another persuasive essay, this time about the use of mobile devices in class and then a question where we had to analyse a piece of text. It was a blog piece written by Tom Hiddleston. At first I was nervous and a bit overwhelmed, but I was pretty confident by the end. I just hope I don't go blank in the actual exam. I mailed it off to my teacher and got a reply sooner than I had thought I would. It simply said that she'd read the intro and that it was fantastic. She also said I was a joy to teach and gave me a smiley face! I was a little shocked considering I had thought she didn't like me very much. I am a bit of a hassle. That boosted my confidence even more. The rest of the evening was again spent relaxing and having Rue time.

Thursday I was back to class as usual. I was by myself most of the day as everyone was working. I watched some of The 100 with my breakfast and while I procrastinated. I had eventually started my Arts 'n' Crafts post for that day when we had a power cut! I had this vision that someone had cut the power to my house as they were going to come inside and murder me, like I'd seen in an episode of Criminal Minds. However Eva and my dad later pointed out how ridiculous that was because it was the middle of the day. I still had 3G on my phone, even though the signal was really weak. I got a message to my friend on Facebook, who I'd been chatting to. It turned out his work had a power cut too, so I was a little relieved it wasn't just my house. It came back on about 40 minutes later and I found out via Twitter there had been a power cut all over North Down and some of Belfast. Once it was back I quickly got my Arts 'n' Crafts | Candle Making post done, just in time to get ready for class. It was a post I'd been really looking forward to writing and I hope it encourages other people to give the craft a go. Class went better than expected. I was pretty anxious when I found out we were going to be doing group work. I think Jenni, my classroom assistant, could tell because she asked if I was okay. I was paired up with a guy and I was worried I was going to be really awkward and shy, plus I didn't understand what we were supposed to be doing at first, however we worked it out. I had to read out a couple of times and fumbled my words a little, but I tried not to dwell on it too much. I was pretty proud of myself for keeping my anxiety under wraps as at one point I was trying to strategise how I could get out of the class with the least amount of disruption. I also got a mark for my essay and my mock exam. I got As on both! So all in all, class went well. I came home to some sweet treats Eva had gotten me and she'd also bought me two Lil Zelfs!

I got a glitter Ooma, which means I have all three versions now if I remember correctly and another regular Cingy Moo. I thought Eva might trade me her but she doesn't like her. Oh well. It was a great way to finish off a pretty good day!

On Friday I finished The 100. I was pretty bummed about that because I was really enjoying it. There was some great twists and I can't wait until the next season comes on. That was basically how I spent Friday day, just relaxing. When my mum came in, she brought me a Monster High doll that had been reduced down. I haven't bought any dolls in ages but I couldn't pass her up for £6. Especially as I don't have Toralei yet.

She also bought Eva and I two Shopkins baskets each. Smyths FINALLY got in season 2! It felt like we'd been waiting forever! I got really lucky and Eva was a little jealous because I got two ultra rares! Super cute ones too.

Later I had Rue time before bed. I got this adorable little photo of her. I don't think I'll ever get bored of taking photos of this little face.

I got up late on Saturday. I enjoyed lying in bed reading until my breakfast, or I guess brunch, was ready. We had a little bit of a scare when Eva was worming the dogs because after Edwin had ate his own worming tablet he managed to get one of Baby's, my labrador's, big tablets. We called the emergency vet and they said he should be fine but he may experience vomiting and diarrhoea. Dad said since we needed to keep an eye on him we could bring him to Granny's house with us. He seemed fine up until we were about to leave, when he seemed like he might have an icky tummy. On the way to Granny's Eva wanted to pick up a Sims game she had left over at Argos. I also wanted to nip into Smyths. Dad kept Edwin in the car. He was shivering he was so cold. I decided to get him a present while I was in Smyths to cheer him up.

A cute little TY monkey keyring. Toys aren't wasted on Edwin. He's like a mini retriever. He loves carrying things around and playing with them. After Smyths we headed to Granny's. Edwin perked up a lot then. I think he liked being in another house to explore, plus aunt Karen was there with her dogs Maisy and Lily. Though Edwin couldn't really be bothered with Maisy, who's becoming increasingly rough with Edwin. Granny was in a good mood and she really liked Edwin. Which was a relief. By the time we were leaving Edwin was curled up on the sofa beside my granny, sleeping. It was too adorable.

I hadn't brought Edwin's new toy into my granny's house with us in case one of the other dogs stole it so I gave it to him when we got home. He kept it with him all night.

The rest of the evening I spent chatting online, working on this post and I also had Rue out for a while. I also took some photographs of some of my new toys, including the Zelf I got yesterday. She's the same one Eva got first and I've wanted her ever since. I'm so glad I have her now.

I was a little disappointed they didn't have any My Little Pony blind bags in Smyths though. Oh well. Last night I also registered to go to a Muscular Dystrophy conference they're having in Belfast. It's both Muscular Dystrophy Ireland and the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign holding it. There will be a lot of info on research and there's also a workshop on Independent Living I've signed up for. A friend I've been talking to on Facebook but have never met in person is also going, so I look forward to meeting her too. It should be interesting.

And that was my week. I didn't do very much, but I did get a lot of toys. That's my favourite kind of week! I forgot to keep a note of what I got up to this week and some days I completely drew a blank. Luckily my friend Pedro was able to help me figure it out! So thank you Pedro if you're reading this. I'm definitely going to be better at keeping a note in the future.

How was your week?

  1. I am so glad I've found someone else in the blogging world who loves Shopkins, Zelfs and Monster High! I always feel a bit silly going into shops and buying them at 24 but I just love them and I'm a big kid at heart and got past the caring stage recently and thought, I love it why not! Your little Zelf collection is lovely and Rue is just the cutest. So cool that you got to analyse a blog post by Tom Hiddleston too - he's one of my favourite actors. - Tasha

    1. Aha, oh really!? That's awesome. I need more people to get excited about them with! I'm totally addicted. I have like 70 Monster High dolls, but I've slowed down buying. I feel like the new lines are more expensive and don't grip me as much anymore. LOVING Zelfs and Shopkins at the moment. I need to get somewhere to display them tough. Running out of room. Thanks! I actually haven't seen Tom Hiddleston in anything yet. I know so many people that love him though. I should check him out. :)

I read and welcome all comments and appreciate them greatly even if I may not answer all of them. I love hearing my reader's thoughts and interacting with you. Thanks!
