Bloo's Reviews | Tessa Bailey

"Writer of dirty talk."

This review has been a long time coming. Well, sort of. Originally I had planned to review the first book I read by the author Tessa Bailey but I ended up reading the series faster than I could write. I had then planned to review her Line Of Duty series but then I was introduced to her other series - Serve, Crossing The Line and Broke & Beautiful - and fell in love with those too. I soon realised it was going to be difficult to pick one book or even one series to write about as they'd all become a big melting pot of hotness and hilarity in my brain. It was hard to remember who went where and what happened when etc. Plus, picking one would be like an x-rated version of Sophie's Choice. Though off the top of my head if I had to pick from a line up to become my real life bae I may be able to narrow it down to between Matt (Staking His Claim), Brent (Asking For Trouble), Jonah (Owned By Fate) or Bowen (Risking It All), Connor (Up In Smoke) or Russell (Make Me)... Yes. That is narrowing it down.

So I decided to do something a little bit different and rather than go back to review past books I've read or skip to the ones I've just read or future books, I would instead review the author herself!

I was pretty new to erotic fiction when I stumbled across my first Tessa Bailey book. Back then I was a little bit more embarrassed about reading these sexy stories even though 50 Shades Of Grey, for whatever reason, had made it almost mainstream. I haven't read that particular book, so I cannot comment. I'm not a fan of first person writing. But I digress. I would say, whenever somebody happened to ask, that I didn't read them for the sexy parts. I just really liked the story lines and characters. I mean, I did like the romance side too. It's hard not to like reading about relationships when you've been single as long as I have been. However, Tessa's books were the first that I felt made that statement ring true. Some of my favourite scenes in her books weren't when the lead couple were getting it on, no. It was the interactions between the characters and the secondary characters. Tessa Bailey doesn't just write characters that are extremely hot and good at dirty talk, she writes characters with personality. Character's you want to get to know, wish you could meet in real life and even just be friends with. Character's you can't wait to meet again in the next book, find out their story and ones you're sad to say goodbye to when the series inevitably ends.

That being said, she sure does know how to write a bedroom scene... well, not that it's always confined to a bedroom but you get what I mean.

Something else that I really like about Tessa Bailey is how much she interacts with her readers. She makes such a great use of social media, keeping her readers up to date, giving sneak peeks and just letting them get to know her. She's very personable and that's coming from me, someone who's usually too nervous to Tweet anyone! I love that you can tell she's as passionate about her writing and characters. She's the kind of writer I aspire to be. The type lives and breathes her characters and stories. Loves them as much as her readers do and likes to share in it with her readers.

So in short, if you're a fan of erotic romance I would really recommend checking out what Tessa Bailey as on offer. Just be aware that she may ruin your ability to be attracted to the men that real life has to offer!

  1. I think I'll have to get into this series. I just love stories where you're sad to say goodbye to the characters and get so attached to a series. I love it when the authors are nice and approachable too, it always makes it nice to be able to interact with your favourites! - Tasha

I read and welcome all comments and appreciate them greatly even if I may not answer all of them. I love hearing my reader's thoughts and interacting with you. Thanks!
