Toys 'n' Stuff | Belfast Haul

"Childhood means simplicity. Look at the world with the child's eye - it is very beautiful."
Kailash Satyarthi

Welcome to the final Belfast weekend away related post and probably my favourite of them all, my toy haul! I already did a haul post for the stuff I bought from Lush and Primark, which you can find here. I bought toys from Forbidden Planet, the Disney Store and Build A Bear.

My Week In Words | #39 2015

Vampire Bill

Lush & Primark Haul

"Don't watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going."
Sam Levenson

Welcome to my first haul from my stay in Belfast. Apologies that some of these photos aren't great. The lighting wasn't the best and I find it difficult to photograph clothes at the best of times. They're my least favourite thing to photograph or even write about to be honest. So I figured I'd just show you what I bought. This is probably the shortest post I've ever written! Anyway, I also lost the receipt for the Primark stuff so I couldn't include the prices for those. If you want to check out the Lush items the price beneath each photo is a link to the product on the website.

My Week In Words | #38 2015

"If winning isn't everything, why do they keep score?"
Vince Lombardi

Welcome to this week's belated edition of My Week In Words. I've been very tired lately which has thrown everything out of whack. I'm hoping by next week I'll be on the ball again. We'll see. It wouldn't be the first time I've said that and haven't followed through. Anyway! It was a pretty good week and definitely had a great ending thanks to the Giants! This week's post covers from Sunday 13th to Saturday 19th of September. Enjoy!

It was Belfast. They were Giants. Pt 2

"Faith is a kind of winged intellect. The great workmen of history have been men who believed like giants."
Charles Henry Parkhurst

Welcome to part two of mine and Eva's stay in Belfast for her birthday and the first home game of the Belfast Giants 15/16 season! If you want to check out part one you can find here.

Saturday was game day! The first Belfast Giants home game of the season. I was beyond excited to check out our new team in action. However, we had plenty planned before the game. During this stay we had opted to have the Premier Inn's breakfast. At the weekend the breakfast was from 7am to 11am (as far as I remember) so we still got a bit of a lie in. We were up around 9:30am and down for breakfast by 10am. Because we hadn't drank the night before we were able to enjoy the breakfast fully. Especially Eva, who usually ends up throwing it up faster than she can get it down. They had a continental and a full on fry up option. Naturally we went for the fry buffet.

Eva's Belfast Birthday! Pt 1

"Age is a case of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it don't matter."
Satchel Paige

You may remember last Halloween I had a weekend stay in Belfast, at the Titanic Quarter Premier Inn, with my sister, Eva. I wrote all about it here and here. Well, since we had such a good time last time we decided to do it all over again. However, this time we went for Eva's birthday and the first Belfast Giants home game because the two coincided. It was another awesome weekend, despite the many hiccups, and I figured it deserved posts of it's own rather than being included in My Week In Words. If you want to read about what I got up to the days before my mini getaway you can check it out here. I've decided to do it in two parts as it was quite a big weekend. This first part is Friday 11th of September and tomorrow's post will be Saturday and the morning of Sunday before we left to go home. Enjoy!

My Week In Words | #37 2015

"Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life."
Omar Khayyam

Welcome to this week's My Week In Words. I decided since I had a bit of a big weekend this week that I would keep Friday and Saturday for a separate post but there's still plenty to read from Sunday 6th to Thursday 10th of September. Please enjoy!

Short Stories | Satchel's Intro

"The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time."
Mark Twain

You may remember a while back, if you're been frequenting my blog for long, I posted a short story I wrote for my English Language GCSE creative writing controlled assessment. If you missed it you can read it here.  Well this time I decided to do something a little different. I have a few stories in the works and random scenes and characters that have come to mind that don't have a story just yet. I figured sharing them and getting feedback may help inspire the rest of the story. I'm not really sure where this piece of writing came from. It was one of those times the first line came to me and it kind of just snowballed. I still haven't fully figured out where this story is going yet and I guess you could consider this a rough draft but I hope you enjoy this introduction to Satchel.

Blippo Kawaii Haul!

"Kawaii /kəˈwʌɪ/: the quality of being cute, or items that are cute."

Gosh, this haul has been in the works for a while. It feels like forever ago now that I made my first order with Blippo and followed it up with a second order a couple of days later. I had already subscribed to the Kawaii Box for the first time but I was a little impatient and wanted something to tide me over. Which turned out being a little pointless as it took the orders as long to arrive as the Kawaii Box. Still, I pretty much loved everything I got anyway. So there were no regrets. Now on with the haul!

My Week In Words | #36 2015

"If you haven't got any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble."
Bob Hope

Welcome to this week's edition of My Week I Words. It was another slightly uneventful week if I'm honest. I haven't been feeling great so I wasn't out much. Still, I hope you enjoy the read. This post covers from Sunday 30th of August to Saturday 5th of September. I cannot believe we're into yet another month. Enjoy!

Save The Children Like Aylan Kurdi

"...war in our time is always indiscriminate, a war against innocents, a war against children."
Howard Zinn

You would pretty much have to live under a rock not to know about the current refugee crisis going on right now and if you're reading this blog post then I can safely say you're not living under a rock. Or in the very least you have a rock that has an internet connection, but I digress. We live in a world where horrible, unthinkable things happen every day. Most of us, perhaps to preserve our sanity, turn a blind eye now and then to the things we feel we are powerless to change. However, there are just some things we cannot turn a blind eye to. Once seen there is no longer the luxury of blissful ignorance. It cannot be unseen or ignored. They haunt the mind's eye and compel us with the strong need to do something. Anything that might end the suffering of those involved. Nothing evokes this more than seeing a child in pain or, as we've witnessed over the last few days, their death.

The Color Run 2015

"The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love colour the most."
John Ruskin

A few months ago my sister's friend, Jodie, suggested they do The Color Run in Belfast. Naturally they asked if I wanted to tag along and I jumped at the chance. I mean, doing a Color Run is on my bucket list so I didn't really have much of a choice in the matter. I signed up and a while later Eva finally signed up too. Jodie never ended up registering so as usual it was just Eva and I. Sisters doing it for themselves... or by themselves, as the case may be.

The Love / Hate Tag!

The Love / Hate Tag
"Without contraries is no progression. Attraction and repulsion, reason and energy, love and hate, are necessary to human existence."
William Blake

It's been a little while since I've done a tag. I've been nominated to do a few but they were ones I'd already completed once or twice before and I was a bit worried I wouldn't have good answers and that people were getting bored of seeing the same tags anyway. However when Danielle or Underland To Wonderland tagged me to do the Love/Hate tag, my love for these things was reignited as I've never been nominated for this one before. That being said, I appreciate all nominations and I'm still grateful even if I don't end up completing them all. Anyway, on with the rules!

My Week In Words | #35 2015

"In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can."
Nikos Kazantzakis

Welcome to this week's belated My Week In Words. It was a pretty uneventful week with me not being too well and then just working away getting things done for finally launching mine and Eva's Etsy store. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy reading what little I got up to this week. This post covers from Sunday 23rd to Saturday 29th of August. Enjoy!
