"Television has brought back murder into the home - where it belongs."
Alfred Hitchcock
Today's post is about the latest television series I've been watching. This series started originally with the post My Latest Series #1. Some of these shows will stay with me for a long time and I can't recommend them enough. If you have any shows you recommend I give a go please tell me in the comments! Perhaps it'll feature in the next instalment.
True Blood

Eva started watching True Blood and she loved it so much she introduced me to it and we started watching it together. We were very late to the party but in a way I like that because there's less surprises. I knew going in that basically everybody hated the finale, so I couldn't be so let down. I quickly fell in love with the show and began binge watching it. I didn't realise it was going to be so funny and thought it would be more along the lines of The Vampire Diaries, but with more graphic sex. I was wrong. Eva and I ended up taking a break from watching it as we didn't want it to end too soon, so I haven't finished it yet. I'm sure we'll pick it back up soon.

Degrassi: The Next Generation

Okay, I'm not going to say this lightly but this show has been life altering. I know I'm being dramatic but that's just how much I love it. The Canadian teen drama series, Degrassi, started in 1979 and Degrassi: The Next Generation is the fourth series in the Degrassi franchise, which began in 2001 and is still running today, although with a name change to Degrassi and as of 2016 the newest incarnation, Degrassi: Next Class. It follows the lives of the kids of Degrassi Community School. I started watching it while Eva was in Amsterdam and quickly made my way through the first four or five seasons in a few days. I loved it so much I introduced Eva to it when she came home and re-watched from the beginning again with her. We started season one together at the beginning of December and we're currently on season 11. It's a great show, full of drama as expected. It covers tough subject matter such as abuse, teen pregnancy, sexuality, mental health and disability. I particularly love it for the fact the actors are the ages of the characters they're portraying, which is pretty refreshing after growing up with shows where you have people in their mid twenties playing teenagers. I love watching the actors grow up as well as the characters. I'm not really sure what Eva and I will do with ourselves once we have caught up to the most recent episode. It will be a sad day.
Girl Meets World

Girl Meets World is another show that Eva and I quickly binge watched until the latest episode but that took considerably less time as the second season is still airing. You may remember Boy Meets World, well this show is the sequel featuring Cory and Topanga's daughter, Riley Matthews, and her friends. Although it stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, as Cory and Topanga, as well as other guest stars from the original series and was created by the same people, the show is on Disney and is therefore very different from it's predecessor. I wasn't convinced I would like it at first but when Eva introduced me to it I quickly fell in love. I'm not a big lover of recent shows on Disney channel, I mean at 25 I'm not their target audience, but it feels like the creators of Girl Meets World are aware that they have an older fan base from the older show and therefore it's more complex and has more layers than you would think a show for pre-teens might be. There's a lot of nostalgia too and I live for the episodes where the likes of Shawn and Eric come back. It's a great show and so long as you go in not expecting it to be like Boy Meets World then you won't be disappointed.
