My Week In Words | #15 2015

"I think togetherness is a very important ingredient to family life."
Barbara Bush

Welcome to this week's My Week In Words. A lovely Easter week full of fun! This post covers from Sunday 5th to Saturday 11th of April. Enjoy!

As usual I woke up to a fry on Sunday and then worked on last week's My Week In Words, which you can read here. Once I had that up I spent some time just chatting online until our Easter dinner was ready. As it was a special occasion my mum dressed the table all pretty like. I had just drank a Fortisip so I was pretty full already and was going to wait until later to have my dinner, but when I seen the cauliflower cheese I decided I'd try and stuff my tummy a little more.

After that Eva and I watched some Netflix on our living room television. Something we've only just set up. It's so weird watching it on such a big screen. Definitely looking forward to doing it more in the future. After that I had some Rue time. I even tried to get an Easter photo of her but she was having none of it.

Monday was another family day. It took us a while to actually leave the house as my parents decided to wait until the last minute to remember. Apparently trying to cook a poached egg in a crisp packet and cooking bacon with an iron was more important. My family are weird. Once we finally left we made our way to the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum. It used to be a tradition to go there every Easter but we hadn't been in quite a while. We only actually ended up going to the folk part of the museum. It's a good place to visit though not so much if you're in a wheelchair. Especially a wheelchair like mine. I can't get into most of the places, but I had fun none the less. Especially since we got lovely weather. Also it's their policy wheelchair users get in free now, which helped ease the sting. Anyway, here are some photos from the day.

We reached the peak of hilarity pretty quickly when Eva went into this store thinking it was called Gille's Pies...

My personal highlight of the folk museum has to be the horses and the donkeys. I got to pet both. One of the donkeys even tried to nom on my wheelchair. One of the horses was really friendly but the other one looked really sad. It reminded me how much I love visiting the form for my birthday. I wasn't going to this year but I think I will now. After we made our way around the museum we went back to the car and had our picnic.

On our way home we asked dad if we could drop into Homebase to pick up some things for our plants. Eva and I had decided to repot our cactuses to give them more room to grow. Another thing that ended up growing was my cactus family! Well, it's not just a cactus family anymore. I got a small succulent and a venus fly trap!

By the time we got home I wasn't feeling too well but I was determined to repot my plants. It ended up being a lot of fun. I think when I have my own place I might get a mini green house thing. Well.. if I can keep these plants alive.

I just about got through replanting my plants before I had to go to bed. I had a really bad migraine. So Eva and I got into bed and watched some Glee. A nice way to finish off a lovely Easter Monday.

I was pretty shattered on Tuesday after my busy Monday. My headache was still plaguing me a little bit too. After I posted up my Misc Tuesday post, which you can read here, I had a restful day with Eva in bed watching Glee. In the evening my dad, Eva and I went to my aunt's house as they were having a tea for my grand parent's 65th wedding anniversary and also my cousin's 16th birthday. It was a lovely little evening and my granny really enjoyed herself. She was having a good day. Though she did get a little confused about who people were a couple of times. My aunt asked her if she had any advice for such a long and happy marriage and my granny simply replied, "Keep eating!" So there you have it people. My granny's pearls of wisdom.

Wednesday was a pretty uneventful day. Highlights were the fact Adam Keefe is definitely returning to the Belfast Giants next year and therefore te Keefe jersey I had planned on getting should be a go! And I watched The Way He Looks to review for Thursday. A beautiful little movie. I also attempt to hold Ernie, Eva's hamster, and she was so strong I couldn't! The day was rounded off with a healthy debate about feminism with my mum. Sometimes I wonder how I'm even related to my parents. Our views are so different.

On Thursday I worked on my review for The Way He Looks, which you can read here. After that I finished watching Looking. It was a great series. I'm really sad it isn't getting a third season. Later on I worked on a new banner for my Twitter. I'm pretty chuffed with it!

In the evening I had Rue time just before bed.

I posted an extra blog post on Friday as it was Edwin's birthday! You an read his birthday post here. After I got that posted up I watched a movie called Boys on Netflix. Another foreign movie I completely fell in love with. In the evening we had a slumber party at my aunt Karen's house and even got to take our chihuahua boys with us! They had a great fun playing with their canine cousins, especially Edwin. Also sharing their toys! Maisy, my aunt's Shih Tzu, loved Edwin's toy snake. She adopted it for the evening.

When we got to my aunt's house we just chilled and chatted for a bit before she went to get us a McDonald's for dinner.

It took a while for the boys to settle as they're not used to being in other people's houses. They're also not used to stairs or people being up them!

After we finished up eating we had tea and watched the new Paddington movie. I was actually quite surprised how much I liked it! I may review it though so I won't say too much. THe film finished around 11:30pm and we just headed to bed. My aunt had gotten a sofa bed for Eva and I to share as there ain't no way anybody was going to be able to carry me up the stairs. I was pleasantly surprised at just how big and comfortable the bed was! It was a little early for me to sleep so Eva and I chatted for a while and scrolled through things on our phones as you do. Eventually I got to sleep and had a good night sleep only I wouldn't have minded having it a little longer.

My aunt decided to wake us up at 8:30am. ON A SATURDAY. This is why I'm posting this blog post so late this week. I was so shattered all day on Saturday I couldn't think straight enough to write. She made us toasted pancakes and wheaten for breakfast, which was really nice.

A while later we got home and dad made us a fry up! I was glad I didn't have to miss my fry day. I basically spent the rest of the day procrastinating until Rue got up. She was being super adorable!

I tried a new thing during play time. I made her a digging box and put it in the bath so she couldn't escape. Well, it was a bit fail. She dug through it twice and then figured out she could climb up on to the side and then on to the edge of the bath. Little missus just loves being an escape artist. After Rue time I headed to bed.

And that was my week. Apologies for getting this post up so late! It's the first time since the new year that I almost missed posting on the scheduled day. I really need to get on top of things better. Anyway, I hope everyone had an awesome Easter and the rest of the week.

  1. Looks like you've had a fab week & I absolutely LOVE your twitter banner!! <3 xx

  2. Yes I did, thank you! And thanks. It was fun to make. :) xo

  3. I love how animal filled your week was! I always love seeing photographs of Rue - what a little beauty. The photograph of her in the Easter basket is so cute. That chocolate coloured rabbit from the folk museum is also so beautiful.

By the way, the Gille's Pies story made me laugh so much!

  4. p.s. I meant to say I also love your new Twitter banner!

    1. An animal filled week is definitely the best week! Thank you. She really is. I wish I could have gotten a better photo of her in the basket where would the fun in that be? :D But yeah, I wish I could have reached to pet the bunnies! They were gorgeous. Oh, thanks! I was pretty happy with it. :D xo
